Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles and UT-Tyler battled to a 0-0 tie in Saturday's American Southwest Conference regular season finale.
Ozarks (12-4-2, 8-3-2) has advanced to the ASC tournament for the tenth consecutive season and will head to Belton, Texas, for the six-team tournament November 6-8. Ozarks will take on Mississippi College November 6 at 2:00 p.m. UT-Tyler ends the season with a 6-7-4 overall record and a 6-3-4 ASC mark.
The Eagles had a pair of shots in the first half, with one coming from Shaun Renfro in the 18th minute. However, goalkeeper Mark Oliphant made a stop to preserve the scoreless match. UT-Tyler’s Brandon Warren had a header in front of the goal that went high in the 22nd minute. Perhaps Ozarks’ best chance to score came in the 60th minute when Philip Johnson sent a ball toward goal, but Oliphant made a nice save to continue the shutout. Both teams had decent shots at the goal in the overtime period, with the Eagles’ chance coming from Renfro with just three seconds left in the match.
Neil Thompson, who fought his way through a couple of hits, finished with two saves for his third shutout of the season.
The Patriots ended with a 11-5 shots advantage.
