McAlester, Okla.-Mitchell Powers drove in the game-winning run with a single in the tenth inning to push Ozarks past Austin College 7-6 in non-conference play Tuesday afternoon.
Powers clutch hit came with two outs, but his wasn’t the only hit in a pressure situation. Taylor Parker hit a home run in the ninth to tie the game at 6-6. Peyton Johnigan scored the game-winning run in the tenth after reaching base on a double.
Ozarks (14-19) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three complete innings, but Austin College (10-25) generated a run in the fourth and then took the lead in the fifth. Trailing 6-3, Parker blasted his first home run of the game in the seventh. Powers had a sacrifice RBI in the eighth as well, cutting the deficit to 6-5.
Bo Thomas (2-0) received the win, tossing the final two innings.
Parker finished 3-for-5 with three RBI. Sam Shook, Freddy Prince, Dean Igert and Johnigan each had two hits.
Ozarks will host Louisiana College this weekend in a three-game conference set. On Saturday, all six Ozarks’ seniors will be honored.
