James “Jimmy” Phillips will join University of the Ozarks this summer as the new director of residential life.

Phillips, whose first day at Ozarks will be June 20, 2023, will be responsible for “managing the administrative, programmatic, and supervisory tasks associated with creating a vibrant residential life program.”

Phillips most recently served as the area coordinator at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., where he trained and managed a team of 12 professional staff.

“I’m really looking forward to coming aboard,” Phillips said. “Residential life has been my work for the past decade, and I cannot wait to jump in at Ozarks and start doing the work I love.”

A native of the Chicago suburbs, Phillips earned bachelor’s degrees in political science and elementary education from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill., before earning a master’s degree in higher education administration from Lee.

Phillips has also served as a teaching and editing assistant at Pennsylvania State University as well as the resident director at Grove City College in Pennsylvania.

Outside of work, Phillips enjoys playing and watching tennis.
