Clarksville, Ark.-Senior guard Lacey Phillips scored 19 points, dished out 10 assists and grabbed five rebounds to lead Ozarks to a 72-59 win over LeTourneau University Thursday in American Southwest Conference play.
The Lady Eagles (7-7, 5-6 ASC) were hitting on all cylinders throughout the contest, but were especially effective in the first half, building a 12-point lead within the first six minutes of the game. Ozarks hit 57 percent from the field in the first half to build a 44-22 intermission lead. A Phillips three-pointer at the 10:11 mark gave Ozarks a 26-9 advantage. April Young later followed with a three to put the Lady Eagles ahead 33-13. The YellowJackets (8-6, 5-6 ASC) also had a tough time handling Sabrina Goddard on the inside. Goddard finished 6-of-10 from the floor for 16 points in the first half alone. Her two free throws with under three minutes to play put Ozarks in front 38-19.
Ozarks went up by 30 points within the first minute of the second half. LeTourneau never really threatened after that as Ozarks maintained a 20-point advantage most of the way. Phillips again put the lead at 30 points after a pair of free throws with 11:27 left. The Lady Eagles hit 8-of-14 (57%) from the three-point line in the game and handed out 21 assists.
Goddard finished with 20 points and Young ended with 12 points. Phillips hit 3-of-4 behind the arc.
