Clarksville, Ark.-Hendrix College defeated the Lady Eagles 84-75 behind a balanced scoring attack Saturday afternoon in non-conference play.
Ozarks (3-6) scored first and then went back-and-forth with Hendrix before the Warriors (4-2) established a 44-37 halftime advantage. A pair of Molly Patterson free throws with 3:51 remaining put Ozarks within 33-30. Patterson, who scored 10 first half points, buried a three-pointer with 1:19 left to keep the Lady Eagles within striking distance. The Warriors, however, would never let the Lady Eagles get into the flow of the game in the second half, as they turned a narrow halftime advantage into a 63-46 lead at the midway point. Ozarks battled back behind the scoring of Lacey Phillips and April Young in the second half. Phillips nailed a three with 6:22 left to make it 67-59. Ozarks cut it to 74-68 with 3:42 left on a Young trey. Ozarks cut the deficit to five points on a Patterson free throw with under a minute to play but it was too late.
Patterson finished with a team-high 18 points and five rebounds. Phillips ended with 15 points and Young added 14. Alison Villines scored 11 points.
Ozarks will travel to Abilene, Texas, to face Hardin-Simmons January 3 and McMurry University January 5.
