Clarksville, Ark.-Texas-Tyler would use a Victor Almendariz goal in the 12th minute to secure a 1-0 win over the Eagles and stay atop the American Southwest Conference standings Thursday.
Ozarks (6-9-0, 5-6-0 ASC) played tough defense against the Patriots (11-2-0, 8-1-0 ASC) behind a strong performance from goalkeeper Neil Thompson. Thompson made several nice stops in goal and finished the match with five saves. Ozarks was able to penetrate the Patriot defense a few times in the match, but came up empty. The Eagles recorded three shots on goal and posted four corner kicks.
Texas-Tyler did have 11 shots, none bigger than Almendariz’s game-winner in the first half.
Ozarks will host Concordia University Texas this Saturday in their next ASC match.
