Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles gained a 83-80 overtime win against Austin College in American Southwest Conference East Division play in Sherman, Texas, on Tuesday night.
The Eagles (10-13, 6-5) hit key free throws and out scored Austin College (4-18, 2-10) 14-11 in overtime in route to remaining in contention for a spot in the playoffs. Ozarks hit 12-of-14 (85%) of their free throws and Jacob Sibley scored 7 of his team-high 17 points in the overtime period to oust a pesky Kangaroos squad. Two free throws by Josh Joyner with 1:03 remaining in overtime gave the Eagles a 78-76 advantage and the lead for good. Ozarks held a 40-32 lead at halftime and shot an impressive 26-of-32 (81%) from the charity stripe in the game. Josh Joyner and Brent Johnson scored 15 points for Ozarks. Mike Taylor added 12 points and David Hamilton scored 11 points. Taylor grabbed a team-best 9 rebounds. Caleb Hilton led the squad with 4 steals and 3 assists. Ozarks ends the season this week when they host UT-Tyler on Thursday and UT-Dallas on Saturday.
