Ozarks Splits With LeTourneau And ETBU

Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles defeated East Texas Baptist 79-73, but narrowly lost to LeTourneau 73-71.

Both squads travel to Sherman, Texas to play Austin College on Tuesday. Against ETBU, the Lady Eagles had four players score in double figures led by Jenna Corbell’s 33 points. Corbell shot 13 of 20 from the field and grabbed 10 rebounds. This marks the fourth time this season Corbell has scored 30-plus points. Ozarks, shooting 51 percent from the field in the first half, raced out to a 44-34 halftime lead behind Corbell’s 22 points. After trailing 59-56 with 9:03 left in the game, junior guard Tiffany Villines scored five straight points to help the Lady Eagles take a 61-59 lead. However, ETBU would regain the lead 64-63 at the 5:11 mark. Villines then hit a jumper and nailed one free throw to give Ozarks the lead for good. Villines scored all 12 of her points in the second half. Villines also had a team-best 6 assists. Mandi Carter had 11 points and Kristy Watts scored 10 points. The Lady Eagles lost a hard fought battle with LeTourneau 73-71 on Saturday. The Lady Eagles stormed back from a 44-32 halftime deficit and opened the second half with a 18-2 run to take a 50-46 lead with 13:41 left in the game. Carter scored a career high 28 points on 10 of 14 shooting from the field. Carter was also 8 of 10 from the free throw line and grabbed 12 rebounds. She recorded three blocked shots. Corbell added 14 points and eight assists for Ozarks.
