Ozarks Softball Team Drops Four Games Against ETBU

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks softball team suffered four losses to East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas, over the weekend.

The Lady Eagles drop to 10-13 overall and 0-10 in American Southwest Conference play. East Texas Baptist took a 8-1 win in Friday’s first game and a 9-1 victory in the second game. The Lady Tigers (17-11, 9-7) opened up with a 4-0 lead after one inning of play in game one and then added four more in the fourth to seal the game. Ozarks got one run in the top of the third when Jessica Pianalto doubled in Dana Marvin. Andrea Mitchell (5-2) received the loss. Game two saw the Lady Tigers hold just a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning, but that quickly changed when the home team scored six runs in the inning to end with a 9-1 win. Chanceree Catlett (4-6) received the loss. Ozarks started the first game on Saturday with a 1-0 lead thanks to a RBI bunt by Chelsea Joslin in the top of the first, but East Texas Baptist ended the contest with a 7-2 win. East Texas Baptist answered with a three-run second to take back the lead. The Lady Tigers added four more runs while holding Ozarks to a single score in the top of the seventh to secure the victory. Marvin (1-5) suffered the loss. Dara Clark went 2-for-3 and Danielle Dirks went 2-for-4 in the game. East Texas Baptist finished the sweep with a 7-1 victory in game two on Saturday. The game was tied 1-1 after four, but the Lady Tigers’ offense answered big again with a five-run fifth to hold off Ozarks for the fourth straight game. Catlett took the loss. Clark went 3-for-4. Ozarks will host LeTourneau University this weekend in a four-game series. Friday’s double-header begins at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday’s double-header starts at 11:00 a.m.
