Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles improved their conference record to 5-2 with a 68-65 win over the University of Dallas on Thursday.

With Ozarks leading 38-31 at halftime, the Lady Eagles held their opponents to 35 percent shooting from the field in the second half. Ozarks also got 24 points off of three-point baskets. “We needed to win this game to stay in contention for the conference championship,” said head coach Jack Jones. “We played some good team defense in the second half that helped us win the game. Their defense doubled down on our post players and we had the opportunity to shoot some three-pointers. That’s probably the best we’ve ever shot in that gym.” The Lady Eagles had a 12-point lead with two minutes to go, but made some crucial mistakes in the waning moments. “We started making mistakes late in the game and made a couple of critical turnovers, but thankfully, Lacey (Johnson) hit some clutch free throws late to seal the win,” said Jones. Lamar’s Mandy Thomas led the Lady Eagles with 12 points. Ozark’s Lacey Johnson had 11 points in the contest.
