Ozarks Men Roll To Win

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's soccer team opened the 2008 season with an easy 15-0 victory over Central Bible College Saturday.

Ozarks (1-0-0) scored four goals in the first half, and followed that with an eleven-goal second half performance. The Eagles set a new school record in goals (15), shots (53) and margin of victory (15). The 2001 team held the previous goal record with 12. The 2004 and 2007 team held the previous shots record with 45, and the 2001, 2004 and 2007 teams had the previous margin of victory with 11.
    
Ten different players scored in Saturday’s blow-out win, with Shaun Renfro, Philip Johnson, Joseph Lokang and Cory Anderson each tallying two goals apiece. Renfro led the team with two goals and two assists. He also had a team-best eight shots. Ozarks out shot the Spartans (0-1-0) 53-0. 34 of Ozarks’ shots were on goal.
    
Ozarks will host Hendrix College Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

Game Notes:
-Ozarks in now 3-0-0 all-time against Central Bible College.
-In Ozarks’ three wins over Central Bible College, the Eagles have outscored them 30-0.
-Ozarks is 7-6-0 all-time in season-openers.
-Shaun Renfro has 15 career assists, ninth-most in Ozarks’ history.
-Ozarks has recorded 18 shutouts over the last three seasons.
-Four freshmen scored goals in their first collegiate game, Joseph Lokang (2), Justin Anderson (1), Guido Salas (1) and Andrew Evemy (1).
