Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles picked up a 78-70 win against Louisiana College in American Southwest Conference action Thursday night.
The wins set up an important East Division showdown with Mississippi College on Saturday in Clarksville. The Lady Eagles game begins at 1:00 p.m. The Lady Eagles (9-9, 3-2) rode the shooting performance of freshman Mandi Carter to gain a 78-70 victory over the Lady Wildcats. Carter, a 6-1 post from Clarksville, nailed 11 of 15 shots from the field on her way to scoring a game high 22 points. It was the fourth consecutive game in which Carter scored at least 20 points. Carter also snagged a team best nine rebounds and blocked four shots. The Lady Eagles shot an impressive 53 percent from the field in the game while forcing the Lady Wildcats to shoot just 40 percent from the field. Ozarks nailed 4 of 9 three-pointers in the first half to hold a 38-33 lead at intermission. The Lady Eagles also controlled the rebounding aspect of the game, ripping down 27 defensive rebounds which limited the Lady Wildcats’ second chance scoring opportunities. For the game, the Lady Eagles out rebounded the Lady Wildcats 42-33. Senior guard Kristy Watts scored 15 points and dished out a team best six assists. Jenna Corbell added 13 points.
