Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men?s and women?s cross country teams both finished among the top-10 at the American Southwest Conference championships Saturday in Clinton, Mississippi.
The men finished seventh overall, while the women placed ninth. Matt Friant paced the Eagles with a top-14 performance to earn All-Conference Second Team honors. Friant, from Conway, ran a 27.18.89 for 12th place in the 8K event. Calvin Jones was next for Ozarks running a 28:35.21, good enough for 22nd overall. Robert Elder was 57th overall with a time of 30:51.30. Nick Brill was 67th with a time of 31:40.21 and Ian Bryan was 75th after running a 32:19.11.
On the women’s side, Kara Willbanks was Ozarks’ top finisher as she placed 30th overall. Willbanks ran a 27:17.16 in the 6K event. Seanan Heaney followed Willbanks running a 30:10.04, which placed her 63rd. Jordyn Ferrell ran a 30:38.77 for a 70th place finish. Sara Sisemore was 77th overall with a time of 31:22.80 and Cindy Henriquez was 80th overall running a 31:54.80.
