Clarksville, Ark.--The Eagles both dropped their home-opener to NAIA Oklahoma City University on Friday afternoon in non-conference action at Hurie Soccer Field.
The Eagles (0-2-0) would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the first half, but were unable to maintain the advantage as Oklahoma City University (1-0-0) would make a valiant comeback and score two goals to gain a 2-1 victory in front of a boisterous Ozarks’ crowd. Ryan Skelly scored his second goal of the season from 20 yards out in the 34th minute on a pass from Tommy Trimble. The Eagles would threatened to score again in the first half, but Stars’ goalkeeper Kai Dreisigacker was able to knock down a couple of shots to halt any prospect of Ozarks gaining momentum. The Stars would storm back in the second half when they scored in the 49th and 64th minutes to collect the comeback win. The Eagles had seven shots on goal in the contest. Jared Gordon led the squad with three shots. Goalkeeper Chris Schultz had three saves. The Eagles will host Williams Baptist on September 4 beginning at 2 p.m.
