Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O softball team defeated Williams Baptist 5-4 April 9 in the first game of a double-header.

The Lady Eagles lost the second game 6-2 and were then swept by Mississippi College in American Southwest Conference play over the weekend. The Lady Eagles (15-18, 6-14) received late inning heroics from Regan Brown in the Lady Eagles win over Williams Baptist. Brown went 4-for-5 on the day including the game winning RBI. Brown finished the game with 2 RBI. Amanda Luney (8-8) picked up the win. “Offensively we are putting the bat on the ball,” said head coach Jon Janssen. “As long as you keep the ball in play, you feel like good things will happen, but defensively we have absolutely beat ourselves. It seems like we have one bad inning and that comes back and haunts us.” Third baseman Leigh Thompson continued her torrid hitting pace going 7-for-12 against Mississippi College. The Lady Eagles will play University of Texas-Dallas at home on March 19 and 20 in ASC action. Friday’s double-header will start at 1 p.m. with Saturday’s double-header beginning at 11 a.m.
