Ozarks Defeats Piedmont, Hogsett Scores Three Goals

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles exploded for four goals in the second half to oust Piedmont College (1-4-0) 5-0 in Maryville, Tennessee, on Sunday.

After holding a 1-0 at the half, Ozarks (3-1-0, 0-0-0) jumped on the home team behind Ron Hogsett’s three second half goals. Hogsett scored in the 51st, 53rd and 80th minutes to propel the Eagles to their third win of the season while eliminating Piedmont’s chances of a comeback. Piedmont, who finished second in the Great South Conference last year, was shutout for third time this season. Gordon opened Ozarks’ scoring with a goal in the 9th minute on a feed from Jason Caskey. Hogsett then scored three straight on two assists from Jared Gordon and one from Ryan Skelly. Chris Estep recorded the assist on Dustin Perry’s goal in the 82nd minute. ????? Brian Sarber notched his second win of the season and had one save. ????? Ozarks opens conference play on the road when they travel to Marshall, Texas, and Longveiw, Texas, to face East Texas Baptist on September 16 and LeTourneau University on September 17.
