Clarksville, Ark.--The Eagles came way victorious in their American Southwest Conference season-opener over LeTourneau University on a hot Friday afternoon at Hurie Field.

Ozarks’ 6-4 defender Lars Nyberg scored on a header in overtime to give Ozarks a 2-1 victory and even their overall record to 3-3-0 and 1-0-0 in league play. Nyberg was able to out muscle and use his height advantage on a feed from Ron Hogsett in the 112th minute to claim the game-winner. Statistically, Ozarks dominated the match from the start. Ozarks out shot the visitors 25-10 and held the Jackets to just two shots in the second half. LeTourneau (2-3-0, 0-1-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Daniel Armas came off the bench to score in the 42nd minute. Hogsett would tie the match ten minutes later when he beat his defender to the goal for his fourth goal of the year. Justin Goodman received the assist. LeTourneau would extend the game to a second ten-minute overtime period before Nyberg’s heroic goal at the 112:38 mark. Ozarks will host East Texas Baptist University tomorrow in ASC play. The match begins at 3 p.m.
