Clarksville, Ark.-No. 8 Hardin-Simmons University scored a pair of goals in the first half and added another early in the second half to down Ozarks 3-1 on Saturday.
The Lady Eagles drop to 3-4-4 overall and 2-4-1 in American Southwest Conference play, while the Cowgirls improve to 11-1-1 overall and 7-0-0 in the ASC.
After a scoreless first thirty minutes of play, Hardin-Simmons came off an injury timeout and connected on a goal in the 31st minute. The Cowgirls quickly followed with a goal three minutes later to hold a 2-0 halftime edge. Hardin-Simmons’ Cassie Sandifer scored her second goal of the game just :25 seconds into the second half to push the score to 3-0. The Lady Eagles gained back some momentum when Chelsea Coleman netted a goal in the 53rd minute. It was Coleman’s third goal of the season. However, Ozarks would only generate one more shot following Coleman’s score.
The Cowgirls collected nine shots in the match, while Ozarks had four. Heather Dryden assisted on Coleman’s goal.
