No. 5 Texas-Tyler Remains Perfect

Clarksville, Ark.-No. 5 Texas-Tyler recorded 20 hits and remained perfect on the season after knocking around Ozarks for a 22-3 win Friday in American Southwest Conference play.

Texas-Tyler (19-0, 4-0 ASC) opened the top of the first with eight runs to take control of the contest. Ozarks (4-16, 1-3 ASC) did answer with three runs in the bottom half of the frame. Kurt Shemanske had an RBI single and Mitchell Powers hit a two-run homer. It was all Texas-Tyler after that as the Patriots held an 11-3 lead after three and then scored nine runs in the fourth.

Powers and Freddy Prince each went 2-for-3.

Sam Brownwood (2-3) suffered the loss.

Ozarks will conclude its three-game series with Texas-Tyler tomorrow in a double-header beginning at noon. Both games can be heard locally on KXIO 106.9 FM and on the internet at www.kxio.nu.
