Clarksville, Ark.-Curt Dixon and Todd Koch gave No. 17 Ozarks strong performances on the mound as the Eagles took both games of an American Southwest Conference double-header against Louisiana College on Saturday.

Dixon went six innings and yielded two runs in six innings of work helping the Eagles to a 6-2 win in game one. Dixon improved his record to 6-1 on the year. Ozarks (25-6, 11-3) scored one run in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings to lead 4-2 going into the sixth. Ozarks padded their advantage in the top of the sixth behind a Cory Briggs RBI single and a Robby Finnell RBI triple. Bruce Cameron hit his seventh homer of the season in the third. Cameron was part of a top of the order that produced 11 hits. David Smith and Cameron each went 2-for-3. Briggs finished 3-for-4, Finnell went 2-for-2 and Brad Broussard had a 2-for-4 day.

Koch worked eight and one-third innings, allowing six hits and fanning seven in the Eagles 12-3 win in game two. It was the second most innings pitched this year by Koch (5-2). Koch got plenty of offense, as all but one starter recorded a hit for Ozarks. Robert Mummey broke a scoreless game in the fourth when he hit a grand slam, marking the second time in the last five games Ozarks has had a grand slam. It was Mummey’s seventh homer of the year. Louisiana College (15-16, 7-4) got two runs back in the bottom half of the inning, but Finnell hit a two-run homer in the fifth to make the score 6-3. It was Finnell’s eighth of the season. Ozarks went on to score three runs on four hits in the eighth.

Smith went 4-for-6 to lead Ozarks. Five other players had two hits.

The final game of the series will take place on Sunday in a nine-inning contest starting at 1:00 p.m.
