Clarksville, Ark.-No. 17 Ozarks pounded out 22 hits and had a six-run third en route to a 17-6 non-conference victory over Hendrix College on Tuesday night in Conway.
With a 3-1 lead after two, the Eagles (23-6, 9-3) exploded for six runs on six hits to extend their lead to 9-1. After Ozarks plated two runs in the frame, David Smith doubled in a pair, and Bruce Cameron followed with a triple. Cory Briggs then doubled in Cameron for the final run of the inning. In the sixth, Ozarks had another big offensive inning, scoring five runs to put their lead at 16-3. Kyle Hudson, Todd Koch, Smith and Briggs all had RBI singles in the inning.
Smith finished 4-for-5 with 3 RBI. Smith also stole three bases. Cameron and Hudson each went 4-for-6 with 2 RBI.
DJ Braswell (3-0) worked five innings on the mound to receive the win. He had three strikeouts.
Ozarks will travel to Pineville, Louisiana, to face Louisiana College in American Southwest Conference play this weekend. Friday’s nine-inning game will start at 6:00 p.m. Saturday’s double-header will start at 1:00 p.m.
