Birmingham, Ala.-The U of O men?s basketball team led the nationally-ranked Birmingham-Southern College Panthers 36-33 at halftime only to see the home team come back and earn a 84-75 win Friday in the Black Tie Classic.
Ozarks (1-1) got 13 points from Marcus Bobb in the first half and the Eagles collected seven steals. Joshua Clark’s three-pointer with less than two minutes in the half gave the Eagles a three-point advantage heading into intermission. But the No. 12 Panthers (1-0) stormed back and eventually gained a 52-42 advantage within the first five minutes of the second half. Ozarks went on a rally of its own when it climbed within one point at the 10:57 mark. The Panthers then held off Ozarks and built a 12-point lead with 5:39 remaining.
Marcus Bobb scored 15 points while Ronnie Dodd added 13 points.
Ozarks will play Emory University in the Birmingham-Southern College Black Tie Classic Saturday.
