The Student Life Office will have a few new faces ready to welcome new and returning students this fall. Steven Weaver has been named the new dean of students, while Bendex Stevenson and Rachel Jones have been hired as area coordinators.

As the dean of students, Weaver will oversee all areas of student life and is excited to begin the new school year.

"I am most looking forward to my family and I becoming a part of the Ozarks community," Weaver says.

The new dean says he loves music, sports, food, singing, watching movies and spending time with his family. Weaver’s advice for students is to "be fully engaged in the experience of being a student at University of the Ozarks. This is an exciting time of self-discovery, development, learning, and vocational clarification and calling.  You are in charge of your journey. Make it amazing."

The Student Life staff also welcomed two new area coordinators to the office this summer, Stevenson and Jones. As area coordinators, they will work with residential life, campus activities, and student leadership.

Stevenson, originally from Claremont, Fla., graduated with a master’s degree in public administration from Indiana State University in 2014. He enjoys being outside and is excited about what Ozarks and the surrounding area have to offer.

"I am always looking for new ways to broaden my scope of living a healthy and active lifestyle," Stevenson explained. "I feel as though I can already call Clarksville my home. I look forward to making new friends and memories throughout my time here on campus."

Jones, originally from Ardmore, Okla., earned her bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in 2011. She has experience working in student and residential life, both during college and after graduation.

"I am most looking forward to bringing fun and engaging activities to Ozarks students," Jones said. "I hope to bring insight from my experiences at previous institutions to help grow and create new ideas here on campus."

The new staff members will join several veteran student life officials, including Office Manager Glenda Gibson, who is starting her 16th year at Ozarks and her 11th in Student Life, Assistant Dean of Students Brian Hull, who is entering his 13th year at Ozarks, and Director of Campus Activities Emma Bottorff, who is entering her third year in the office.
