Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks athletic department has added four new assistant coaches for the 2013-2014 school year, it was announced by athletic director Jimmy Clark.
Dillon Buchanan is the new assistant men’s basketball coach. Buchanan, a native of West Fork, Ark., was a volunteer assistant coach last year at West Fork High School where he helped the Tigers to a 27-8 record. He was a head coach at the Arkansas Athletes Outreach top-25 camp and has worked numerous summer camps at WFHS. Buchanan will also serve as the head junior varsity coach at Ozarks.
Jennifer Lillard is the new assistant softball coach. Lillard, a native of Temecula, Calif., served as the assistant coach at University of Redlands from 2011-2013 where she helped the Bulldogs to a 2012 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship. Prior to Redlands, Lillard was an assistant coach at Redlands High School. Lillard played at University of West Alabama where she was a four-year starting catcher. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UWA. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in athletic administration from Concordia University Irvine.
Tara Richards is the new assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach. Richards, a native of Henderson, Nev., was a four-year standout at Ozarks from 2010-2013. Richards was an All-Conference performer as a freshman in doubles play. She earned All-Conference again in 2013 after posting a 10-6 record in doubles. Richards helped the women’s program earn the team academic award from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association back-to-back years. She is currently finishing her sociology degree at Ozarks.
Jordyn Ferrell is the new assistant women’s basketball coach. Ferrell, a native of West Fork, Ark., played two seasons at Ozarks. Ferrell earned Capital One Academic All-District and All-Conference honors last season. She was a member of the American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team for the 2012-2013 season. Ferrell also excelled in cross country earning Capital One Academic All-District honors following the 2012 season. She is currently finishing her degree in physical education at Ozarks.
