Mitchell Powers Named All-Conference

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks sophomore shortstop Mitchell Powers was named to the American Southwest Conference All-East Division Second Team, the ASC office announced Monday.

Powers, a 6-foot, 195-pound native of North Little Rock, led the team in nearly every offensive category, including hits (46), home runs (5), RBI (32), doubles (9), total bases (72), slugging percentage (.471) and at-bats (153). A starter in all 40 games, he finished the year hitting .301, while scoring 23 runs and recording one triple. He also set the new single season school record with 130 assists.

He produced a team-best six three-hit games and 15 multiple-hit games. Additionally, he led the team with 11 multiple-RBI games. He posted back-to-back-to-back three hit games in February and hit safely in 25 contests. Against Texas-Dallas March 11, he went 3-for-5 with four runs and two RBI.

Powers earned Honorable Mention All-Conference his rookie season after hitting .359 with 24 RBI and 12 doubles.

A product of Central Arkansas Christian, Powers was named to the All-Arkansas Team his senior campaign.
