Clarksville, Ark.-The Mississippi College softball team completed a four-game American Southwest Conference sweep against Ozarks with a pair of wins Saturday in Clinton, Miss.
In game one, Molly Bowman doubled in Ali Mathis to put Ozarks (6-30, 0-20 ASC) ahead 1-0 in the first inning. But it would be the only lead of the game for the Lady Eagles as Mississippi College (23-7, 11-5 ASC) pulled out a 5-1 win. Mississippi College responded with two runs in the bottom of the second behind three hits. Ozarks totaled three hits in the game.
Rebecca Groff (0-3) went three innings as the starter and took the loss.
In game two, Mississippi College broke a scoreless tie in the third with six runs on six hits to gain a 12-4 win. The Lady Eagles trimmed the deficit to 6-4 with a big fourth inning. Ozarks had three straight singles and Arlisa Arwood eventually drew a bases loaded walk to get the Lady Eagles on the board. Kelsey Hallman had an RBI and Mathis singled in a pair of runs in the frame. The Choctaws scored five runs in the sixth to run-rule Ozarks.
Mathis went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead Ozarks.
Arwood (2-7) took the loss in the circle.
Ozarks will host Texas-Dallas April 21-22 in a four-game series.
