Clarksville, Ark.-Freshman forward Thomas Mills recorded a hat trick to push the Eagles to an impressive 6-2 win over Howard Payne University in American Southwest Conference action Saturday.

Mills put the Eagles (6-2-2, 1-0-1 ASC) on top 2-0 with back-to-back goals in 12th and 27th minutes. Mills first score came when he easily finished off a deflected ball directly in front of the goal. His second goal was a header off a corner kick. An own goal came in the 35th minute and Ozarks quickly had momentum of the match. Mills then completed the hat trick in the 40th minute off a corner kick from Josh Duncan. Marcus Aldaba scored the team’s fifth goal of the first half in the 43rd minute to give Ozarks a 5-0 advantage. Shaun Keane put one in the back of the net in the 47th minute before Howard Payne (1-9-0, 0-2-0 ASC) scored its two goals.

“I’m happy with the boys’ performance,” said head coach John Cossaboon. “Our goal was to be a factor from the beginning and we did that. We displayed intensity and consistency early and we were rewarded with goals.”

Ozarks posted 17 shots and six corner kicks in the match.

Ozarks will host East Texas Baptist October 3.
