Clarksville, Ark.- The men's tennis team opened the 2008 season with a pair of victories over the weekend in Conway, Ark.
Ozarks defeated John Brown University 5-4 on February 15 to open the year. Keith Edwards (6-1, 7-6), Michael Laws (6-3, 6-3) and Brett Spahn (6-1, 6-4) each gained wins in singles play. Tyler Patterson and Brandon Carlson also teamed up in doubles action to earn a 8-6 win.
Against Lyon College on February 16, the Eagles notched a 5-4 victory. In singles play, Laws (6-1, 6-3) and James Johnston (7-5, 6-1) had wins. In doubles play, Edwards and Laws picked up a 8-5 victory.
On February 17, Hendrix College defeated the Eagles 5-4. Edwards (7-5, 6-2, 7-4) and Laws (6-4, 7-5) each had wins in singles play. Patterson and Carlson had a 8-3 doubles win, and Edwards and Johnston gained a 8-5 win.
The Eagles will travel to Searcy to face Harding University on February 26.
