Clarksville, Ark.-The 2013 spring match for the men's soccer team went well as head coach John Cossaboon saw a number of positives in a recent contest against Hendrix College.
Cossaboon’s Eagles took on Hendrix April 6 in front of a large crowd at Hurie Field and the home team didn’t disappoint. Senior forward Eloy Salgado scored for Ozarks to provide the Eagles with momentum. As the match went back-and-forth, freshman Tony Ramos eventually added another goal for the Eagles.
“It was great to get out and play someone other than ourselves,” said Cossaboon. "I wish we could do more of it. We have some guys that are returning from injury, and it was great to see them back at it.”
The 2013 team will return the majority of its starters for the regular season this fall. Ozarks will benefit from the return of the talented Salgado, who only played in three matches last season due to an injury. The Eagles have also added depth at the goalkeeper position. Sophomore transfer Austin Benner joins the team after playing at Fontbonne University last season.
