Men’s Soccer Team Drops Match In Second Overtime

Clarksville, Ark.-Maryville College scored in the 104th minute to secure a 1-0 victory over the Eagles on Sunday afternoon in the Nike Kick-Off Classic in Maryville, Tenn.

After a scoreless first overtime, Maryville (2-0-0, 0-0-0) got a goal from Joey Peirce in the 104th minute to push the home team to their second win in as many days.

Ozarks (1-1-0, 0-0-0) out shot Maryville 21-13 during the first ninety minutes, and then proceeded to hold a 3-1 in the first overtime. However, Maryville collected a pair of shots in the second half, including Pierce’s game-winner to upset the Eagles.

Brandon Cain led Ozarks with seven shots, four of which were shots on goal. Brandon VanCleave followed with six shots. Ozarks keeper Brian Sarber had ten saves.

Ozarks will travel to Hendrix College on September 5. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
