Clarksville, Ark.-Men's cross country runners Tristan Cooper, David James and Matthew Friant were named to the American Southwest Conference All-Conference Team after posting strong finishes at the ASC championships held October 30 in Tyler, Texas.

Cooper, who finished second overall in the 8K, earned All-ASC First Team honors. James finished fifth overall to also earn All-ASC First Team honors. Friant, who placed eighth overall, earned All-ASC Second Team honors and was named the ASC Freshman of the Year. Additionally, James was named the ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year. Cooper (26:52.47), James (27:08.68), and Friant (27:54.18) were among the top 14 runners who received All-Conference honors.

“They all three ran very well,” said head coach Brian Hull. “It was a tough and physical race. We had to pack in tight because we knew Texas-Tyler would run well at their home course. I was pleased with their honors. Matthew was the top overall freshman finisher so he was given the ASC Freshman of the Year award. Overall, the men’s team ran very well.”

University of Texas at Tyler won the men’s championship, scoring 31 points behind five top-10 finishers. Ozarks placed second (51 pts.) and Mississippi College finished third (98 pts.) among the 12 men’s teams.

The Eagles will head to the NCAA III regional November 13 in Memphis, Tennessee.
