Men’s Basketball Nets Season-Opening Win

Holly Springs, Miss.-The U of O men's basketball team opened the 2012-13 season with a 81-77 non-conference victory over Rust College Thursday night in Mississippi.

Ozarks (1-0) held a 41-30 halftime lead behind 13 points from Ronnie Dodd and 11 points from Marcus Bobb. The Eagles also dominated the boards with a 21-11 advantage. Ozarks’ lead reached 14 points when Isaiah Boxell hit a three-pointer at the 14:14 mark of the second half. Rust (0-1) trimmed the deficit to 62-60 with 7:03 left, but Ozarks quickly established momentum highlighted by a Jermery Victor three-pointer at the 5:56 mark.

Dodd finished a perfect 9-of-9 from the floor to score 24 points. He also grabbed 10 rebounds. Bobb posted a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Victor finished with 12 points.

Ozarks will travel to Birmingham, Alabama, to play in the Birmingham-Southern College Black Tie Classic Friday and Saturday.
