Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's soccer and women's soccer teams were honored with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award, it was announced on Tuesday.

The NSCAA/adidas Team Academic Award is presented to those teams with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average for the 2006-2007 academic year. A total of 406 soccer teams (111 men, 295 women) posted the team 3.0 gpa requirement. Of that total, Ozarks was one of 71 schools that had both their men’s and women’s programs recognized.

It is the fifth consecutive year the men’s program has received the award. The Eagles posted a 3.06 team gpa in 2006-2007 and were the only team in the American Southwest Conference to receive the distinction.

The women’s team posted a 3.10 team gpa in 2006-2007 and were one of three schools from the ASC to receive the honor. It is the third time in the last six years the Lady Eagles have been recognized for the award.

All collegiate divisions, including NCAA Division I, II and III, and NAIA are eligible for the honor.
