Conway, Ark.-For the second straight time this season, the Lady Eagles earned a split against Hendrix College in non-conference softball play.
Behind three hits and a key RBI triple from Ali Mathis, Ozarks (12-22) edged the Warriors (19-11) 2-1 in game one. Hendrix took the nightcap 10-1 in five innings.
In game one, Arel Ferguson singled up the middle to drive in the game’s first run in the second inning. Ozarks would maintain its 1-0 lead until the seventh inning as Hendrix mounted a late rally. Ozarks did add an insurance run in the seventh when Mathis tripled down the right field line. Hendrix recorded back-to-back hits to trim the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh. With no outs and one runner in scoring position, Amber Rollins forced a pop out and then proceeded to strike another Hendrix batter out. Rollins finished off the Warriors with an infield groundout.
Mathis finished 3-for-4. Rollins improves to 9-7 on the season.
In game two, Hendrix built a 7-1 lead after two complete innings. Molly Bowman singled in a run in the first frame, but that would be all Ozarks could generate.
Bowman and Sheridan Bajaras each went 2-for-2. Whitney Price (1-7) took the loss.
Ozarks will host Ecclesia College April 16.
