Mary Hardin-Baylor Breaks Open Tight Game

Clarksville, Ark.- University of Mary Hardin-Baylor broke open a 1-1 tie early in the first half to hand the Lady Eagles a 7-2 loss Thursday in American Southwest Conference play.

The Lady Eagles (0-9-1, 0-4-1 ASC) tied the match, 1-1, when Kristi Gordon scored on a break-away in the 23rd minute. Adrian Rogers received the assist. But it was all Mary Hardin-Baylor (3-3-1, 2-2-1 ASC) after that. The Crusaders scored four more times before the half to build a 5-1 lead. Erin Salyer scored her third goal of the match in the 47th minute to record a hat trick. Ozarks would score once more, this time coming on a tough header by Abby Kern. Kern crashed through the Crusader defensive line to net her first collegiate goal in the 80th minute. Gordon assisted on the goal.

The Crusaders totaled 21 shots in the match. Ozarks goalkeeper Morgan O’Neil had nine saves.

Ozarks posted four shots.

Ozarks will host Howard Payne University October 2.
