Clarksville, Ark.-U of O junior guard Mandrell Howell was named American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Week following his performance in the Eagles' last three games.

Howell averaged 18.7 points, 6 rebounds and made 14-of-15 free throws (93%) while directing the Eagles to a 2-1 record, including a 99-91 win over defending ASC West Champion McMurry University on December 2. The 6-2 native of North Little Rock posted a near triple-double against McMurry when he scored 28 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out nine assists. Howell currently ranks fourth in the conference in scoring (18.8), ninth in rebounding (9.0) and tenth in steals (2.20). Howell is one of only two players in the ASC who are ranked in the top fifteen in scoring, rebounding and steals. Howell, who has scored in double-digits in all five Ozarks’ games, is shooting 52 percent from the field and 76 percent from the free throw line. Howell was named to the ASC All-East Division Second Team last year after leading the team in points (14.9) and rebounds (5.9). The Eagles are currently 3-2 overall and have yet to play an ASC East Division game. Howell is a 1999 graduate of Oak Grove High School.
