Lyon College Battles Back For Baseball Win

Clarksville, Ark.-A couple of big innings for Lyon College lifted the Scots to a 11-8 win over the Eagles Tuesday afternoon in Batesville.

Lyon (6-6) scored first, but a Drew Clark two-run single in the third gave Ozarks (2-8) a 2-1 lead. The Eagles built a 3-1 lead in the fourth, but Lyon answered with four runs in the bottom half of the frame. Ozarks got two runs back in the top of the fifth to tie the game 5-5. But Lyon scored three runs in the fifth and seventh innings to move ahead 11-5. Ozarks rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth behind RBI singles from Mitchell Powers, Tony Morales and Freddy Prince.

Ozarks totaled 11 hits. Kurt Shemanske, Powers and Prince all went 3-for-5.

Michael Skimbo started and went three and one-third innings. Bo Thomas (0-3) suffered the loss.

The Eagles will host Texas Lutheran University this weekend in a three-game series beginning Friday.
