Luney No Match For UT-Dallas

Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O softball improved their record to 20-18 after defeating the University of Texas-Dallas 2-0 and 8-6 in American Southwest Conference action Friday afternoon.

Amanda Luney’s shut out performance highlighted Ozarks first game of a double-header as she gave up only four hits to earn her eleventh win of the season. Ozarks scored one run in the second inning and one run in the fourth inning while Luney gave up only two hits in the last six innings. Luney, sporting a 2.57 earned run average coming into the contest, forced the Lady Comets into numerous ground outs. Hot hitting Regan Brown led the way with two hits. A three-run rally in the second and fourth inning propelled the Lady Eagles to their twentieth win of the year. Brown’s RBI single in the fourth inning broke up a 4-4 score and started a hitting barrage in which the Lady Eagles recorded six hits while manufacturing 3 runs. Brown, a shortstop from Rogers, led the way with three hits. Amie Jondro and Kelly Bennett had two hits apiece. The Lady Eagles will face UTD on Saturday in a double-header beginning at 11:00 a.m.
