Luney, Brown Propel Lady Eagles To Victories

Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O softball improved their record to 20-18 after defeating the University of Texas-Dallas 2-0 and 8-6 in American Southwest Conference action Friday afternoon.

Amanda Luney’s shut out performance highlighted Ozarks first game of a double-header as she gave up only four hits to earn her eleventh win of the season. Ozarks scored one run in the second inning and one run in the fourth inning while Luney gave up only two hits in her last six innings of work. Luney, sporting a 2.57 earned run average coming into the contest, forced the Lady Comets into numerous ground outs and hot hitting Regan Brown tallied two hits to lead Ozarks on offense. A three-run rally in the second and fourth inning propelled the Lady Eagles to their twentieth win of the year. Brown’s RBI single in the fourth inning broke up a 4-4 score and started a hitting barrage in which the Lady Eagles recorded six hits while manufacturing 3 runs. Brown, a shortstop from Rogers, led the way with three hits. Amie Jondro and Kelly Bennett had two hits apiece. Janae Smith (9-9) picked up the win. The Lady Eagles will face UTD on Saturday in a double-header beginning at 11:00 a.m.
