Clarksville, Ark.-Louisiana College scored a combined eight runs in the final three innings to hand the University of the Ozarks a 12-6 loss in American Southwest Conference play Friday.
The Wildcats (19-9, 6-1 ASC) broke a scoreless game in the fourth with four runs on five hits. Ozarks (4-22, 1-9 ASC) wouldn’t score until the sixth when it cut it to 4-2. Louisiana College got both runs back in the top of the seventh, but Ozarks responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame. It was a Nick Brill two-run homer that got Ozarks within 6-4 heading into the eighth inning. The Wildcats added three runs in both the eighth and ninth innings to make a comeback difficult for Ozarks.
The Eagles had 15 hits, with Mitchell Powers going 3-for-4.
Tyler Erickson (1-5) tossed six and one-third innings to receive the loss.
Ozarks will conclude their series against Louisiana College tomorrow with a double-header starting at noon. Seniors Travis Conner, Bobby Osburn and Arturo Perez will be honored prior to the game as part of “Senior Day”.
