Clarksville, Ark.-No. 2 Louisiana College completed a four-game sweep against the University of the Ozarks softball team after taking a pair of American Southwest Conference games on Sunday.
<#IMAGE:1#>Louisiana College’s McCaslin Carson pitched a three-hitter as the Lady Wildcats (26-5, 14-2) took a 9-1 victory over the Lady Eagles (15-19, 7-13) in game one. Carson fanned six on the day and issued only one walk. Freshman Kayla Mahannah recorded the Lady Eagles’ first hit of the day with a solo home run in the bottom of the third to make it 5-1. It was her first homer of the season. Carson sent a deep shot over the center field fence to put Louisiana College up 7-1 in the top of the fifth. A two-run Ashleigh Clement double in the inning gave the Lady Wildcats a 9-1 advantage. Mahannah finished 2-for-2 at the plate. Stephany Henson (9-6) received the loss. In game two, the Lady Wildcats broke open a 2-0 game in the sixth with a five-run frame en route to a 7-2 victory. Louisiana College cranked out three home runs in the sixth to help them take a 7-0 lead. Ozarks scored twice in the bottom of the seventh. Jeanne Randall had an RBI in the frame, and Danielle Dirks scored on a wild pitch. Five different players had one hit for the Lady Eagles. Andrea Mitchell (6-13) received the loss. She struck out four. Ozarks will host Hendrix College on April 18 in a double-header beginning at 2:00 p.m.
