Clarksville, Ark.-Freshman forward Lindy Swatzell was named American Southwest Conference women's soccer Co-Offensive Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the ASC All-Conference team.
Swatzell, a native of Westwood, Kansas, led the team with seven goals and 14 points. Swatzell also added two game winning goals this season. "Lindy stepped up as a freshman and was an impact player," said head coach Jeremey Bernard. "She is a tremendous talent and has a great ability to score goals. She has a bright future ahead of her and I look to her to contribute to the team in many ways for the next three years. We are lucky to have her here." Swatzell was one of only fourteen players to earn All-Conference honors. Players from all sixteen teams are eligible for the honor. In addition to her All-Conference honor, Swatzell was named to the All-East Division first team. Swatzell is a 2001 graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School where she led her team to the state championship her sophomore and junior years.
