Clarksville, Ark.--Senior women's soccer player Lindsey Turnbow was given the 2005 Hurie Award on Tuesday morning at the University's annual student awards convocation held in Raymond Munger Memorial Chapel.

Turnbow, a biology major from Benton, Arkansas, was a four-year member of the women’s soccer team where she played in 67 games during her career. She was a member of the ASC All-Academic team for three seasons. The Hurie Award is given annually to the outstanding member of the senior class who has been an exemplary scholar, a campus leader and a person of outstanding character. It is the highest honor an Ozarks student can receive and chosen by faculty members. Turnbow joins two other former U of O athletes to be named Hurie Award winners. Last year, Mandy Hock, a member of the women’s tennis team was named the recipient. In 2002, women’s basketball player Christie Shuffield received the honor.
