Clarksville, Ark.-LeTourneau University scored the game-winning run in the top of eighth on a two out strikeout to escape with a 6-5 American Southwest Conference win Thursday.

LeTourneau’s Rhett Bohannon reached base on an error to open the eighth and then was advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Ozarks pitcher Rodger Montano then forced a lineout for the second out and walked Nate Tomaszewski intentionally to put runners at first and second. But things went sour for the Eagles (8-20, 1-9 ASC) after that. A wild pitch advanced both runners, and with two strikes Chris Bertram reached base after striking out swinging and as the ball hit the dirt and slipped to the backstop, Bohannon was able to cross the plate.

Ozarks collected just three hits in the game, two of which were home runs. Ozarks tied the score 5-5 in the sixth on a Mitchell Powers solo home run. Nick Brill hit his third homer of the season in the third to put Ozarks in front 4-3.

Jeffrey Works went six and one-third innings as the starter. Montano (0-2) took the loss in relief.

LeTourneau improves to 12-17 overall and 6-7 in the ASC.

Ozarks will conclude its series with LeTourneau tomorrow in a double-header beginning at noon. Both games can be heard at www.kxio.nu.
