Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks freshman forward LaTisha McAlester was named American Southwest Conference East Division women's basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
McCalister made a splash in her first collegiate game, coming off the bench to net 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and snagging 7 rebounds against Wittenburg University on November 18 at the Tyson Tip-Off Tournament in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The 5-11 McAlester came back against Washington College on November 19 and led Ozarks to a 74-57 win scoring 23 points and recording 6 steals. McAlester shot 56 percent (18-of-32) from the field and averaged 21.0 points and 6.5 rebounds over the two-game stretch. McCalister is a graduate of Malvern High School where she earned All-State as a senior. Ozarks will host University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in their home-opener on November 26.
