Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles used a pair of late inning rallies to sweep Hendrix College in Conway Wednesday night.

The Lady Eagles (5-7) turned a 1-1 game in the fifth into a 10-1 blowout in game one.

Ozarks trailed 1-0 going into the fourth inning before Kelsey Stephens evened the score with an RBI double. Things then went sour in the fifth for Hendrix (5-6) as Ozarks’ bats quickly got hot. The Lady Eagles collected eight hits, all of which came from different players, and the Warriors committed four errors in the frame. At one point during the inning, Ozarks had straight five hits. Arlisa Arwood, Ali Mathis, Kelsey Mefford, Casey Mays and Molly Bowman did damage with RBI in the inning. Starting pitcher Tabitha Porter (1-3) then retired the side to end the game.

The Lady Eagles pounded out 13 hits. Mathis led the way with a 3-for-4 performance. Stephens, Mays, Bowman and Arwood all went 2-for-3.

Ozarks again used a late surge to upend Hendrix 10-4 in the nightcap.

The Lady Eagles led 5-4 going into the final inning, but just like game one, the Hendrix defense collapsed and Ozarks took advantage scoring five runs. The Warriors had four errors in the top of the seventh and Ozarks mixed in three hits. Mays knocked in Stephens, who reached on a double in the inning’s first at-bat. No other RBI were recorded as Hendrix committed three more miscues after Mays’ RBI. Arwood (1-2) completed the Wednesday sweep by retiring the side. Arwood came in for Porter and threw six and one-third innings to earn the win.

Hendrix held a 3-0 lead after the third inning, but Ozarks scored once in the fourth and three times in the fifth. Mathis gave Ozarks the go-ahead run in the sixth with an RBI single.

Stephens paced Ozarks at the plate, finishing 3-for-3.

The Lady Eagles will travel to Tyler, Texas, to begin conference play against Texas-Tyler March 11-12.
