Clarksville, Ark.-East Texas Baptist University went on an 11-2 run in the final four minutes of the game to secure a 82-72 win over the Eagles in American Southwest Conference play Saturday.
With East Texas Baptist (7-8, 4-6) leading 73-69, Jeremy Clark hit one-of-two free throws to get Ozarks (7-8, 5-5) within three points with 3:50 remaining. However, the Tigers reeled off 11 points after Clark’s free throw to pick up their fourth conference win of the season. A pair of Tony Daniels free throws at the 2:51mark cut the lead to three points again. But the Tigers had a call go their way on the next possession and went to the free throw line following an Ozarks foul on a three-point shot. The Tigers converted all three freebies and Ozarks wouldn’t score again.
Daniels scored 18 of the team’s 36 first half points and offset the Tigers 53 percent shooting clip in the first twenty minutes. In the second half, Andre Williams gave Ozarks a 69-67 advantage with 6:57 left, but that would be the Eagles final lead of the game.
Daniels finished with a career-high 29 points. He also pulled down 10 rebounds. Clark added 19 points and Chris Williams contributed 10 points.
Ozarks will travel to Richardson, Texas, to face UT-Dallas January 19.
