Clarksville, Ark.-U of O freshman defender Lars Nyberg was named American Southwest Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Eagles' two conference shutouts last week.
Nyberg, a 6-4, 180-pound native of Georgetown, Texas, controlled the opposition’s top strikers in a 9-0 win against Mississippi College on October 19 and an 8-0 shutout of Louisiana College a day earlier. Nyberg helped Ozarks record its school-record 10th shutout win of the season against Mississippi College. Nyberg has started 13 matches this season and has scored one goal and recorded one assist. This marks the third Ozarks’ player to receive conference Player of the Week honors this season. The Eagles (10-5-0) are currently in second place in the ASC East Division with a 6-3-0 record.
