Clarksville, Ark.-UT-Tyler caught fire in overtime to hand the University of the Ozarks women's basketball team a 90-81 loss in American Southwest Conference play on Thursday night in Tyler, Texas.
The two teams battled back-and-forth in the first forty minutes of play before UT-Tyler (6-6, 6-3) got hot in the five-minute overtime period. The Lady Patriots missed just one of their field goal attempts and one of their free throw attempts and outscored Ozarks (7-6, 6-4) 20-11 in overtime. Ozarks held just one lead in the overtime period. Erica Eneks hit a three-pointer at the 4:26 mark to give the Lady Eagles a 73-72 advantage. From that point, UT-Tyler went on an 18-8 run to secure the win. The game saw 11 ties and was marred by a combined 50 turnovers. Eneks led Ozarks with 25 points. She went 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and had 8 rebounds. Mandi Carter scored 19 points and LaTisha McCalister followed with 13 points. Olivia Fisher led the team with 9 rebounds, including 8 on the defensive end. Chandra Briggs had a team-best 7 assists. Ozarks travels to Richardson, Texas, to face UT-Dallas on Saturday.
