Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O Lady Eagles (4-4, 2-2) softball team went 2-2 in the American Southwest Conference Cross-Over tournament held March 7-8 in Irving, Texas.
The Lady Eagles defeated Concordia-Austin 11-3 and Texas Lutheran 4-2 on Friday, but dropped games to Howard Payne, 4-6, and Mary Hardin-Baylor, 3-9, on Saturday. Ozarks will travel to Arkadelphia to play Ouachita Baptist March 12 in a double-header beginning at 1 p.m. In the first game of the tournament, the Lady Eagles exploded for 8 runs in the fifth inning to pick up their first ASC win of the season. Jamie Johnson went 4-for-4 and Amanda Luney collected three hits to pace Ozarks. Luney (2-2) also received the win. A two-run rally in the seventh inning propelled the Lady Eagles to a victory over Texas Lutheran. Shannon Rainbolt knocked in two runs with two outs to lead Ozarks to their second win of the day. Brandi Blake (2-2) received the win. Blake helped her own cause by scoring one run and going 2-for-3 from the plate. Howard Payne rallied for five runs in the sixth inning to upend the Lady Eagles in the third game of the tournament. Leigh Thompson led the team with three hits. Luney got the loss. The fourth game of the tournament saw Ozarks fall behind 6-3 in the fifth inning after holding a 2-0 advantage at the end of four. Blake got the loss while leading the team with two hits.
